Submission Guidelines
Fees: Participation is free.
Each film submission must include:
- Your film with film credits uploaded to YouTube and link provided
- Pupil Participation Agreements for all students participating signed and uploaded - English Version | Spanish version
- School Authorization & Acknowledgement of Participation signed and uploaded
- Copyright Page uploaded
Participant/Student Requirements
All participants must be a student in Fresno County; Students outside of Fresno County may participate with approval. Films can be completed by individuals or groups, with up to four people to each group. Only one film can be submitted by each group, however teachers and coaches can oversee multiple films. Students can participate in multiple groups.
All participants must complete the necessary forms and those forms need to be uploaded by the teacher or coach before the submission deadline.
Teacher and Coach Requirements
All teachers and coaches must have a School Authorization signed by a school administrator and submitted.
Teachers and coaches must create an account at the Picture the Valley website to submit entries on behalf of their participants and school. Submissions should be uploaded through the “Films” link on the website. Click on the Films, and then click on “Add Content,” enter the information requested and upload the entry.
Registration begins on Oct. 23, 2023, all entries are due by February 24, 2024 by 5pm. Please review our Important Dates page to review deadlines.
Film Requirements
The film must represent work completed in the 2023-2024 year. Films must be student produced in their entirety.
If your project includes copyrighted material – please remember to follow “Fair Use” guidelines and cite your sources in the film credits. Please review the copyright policies listed on the Creating Your Film page. All entries will be reviewed for copyright, and entries that do no meet copyright & fair use will be contacted to correct their work. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
Judging
All films will be judged according to their division and category based on pre-set scoring rubrics. Visit our Scoring Rubrics page for more information.
Divisions
All films are submitted and judged in either the Junior or Senior Division.
Junior Division: Grades 6 through 8 (lower grades may participate with permission)
Senior Division: Grades 9 through 12

Technical Requirements
All submitted films must meet the criteria outlined on the Creating Your Film page.
- All participants must keep a complete, high resolution copy of their film. If you win, we may request the high resolution copy.
- All Entries must be uploaded to YouTube. See our Creating Your Film page to review how to submit the video to YouTube.
