Festival FAQs
Who can participate in the Festival?
Anyone who is a student in Fresno County can participate in the festival. Students will also need to have a coach or teacher who oversees the project.
Do participants need to have prior knowledge in video production?
No. Picture the Valley does not require previous technical expertise. Students can be provided with technology kits on request. To learn more, visit our Creating Your Film page.
How do I choose a topic for my video?
Review the film categories and review previous films to get a sense of approved topics. If you are not sure if your topic is appropriate, or what category your topic applies, please contact us.
Am I allowed to use copyrighted material? What about fair use?

Will my video be available online?
All videos will be uploaded to YouTube and you can choose to set those videos to "public" or "unlisted" on the YouTube website. All videos, however, will also be posted on the Picture the Valley website.
Can I submit PPA and Media Release forms after the submission deadlines?
All forms must be uploaded to the website before the submission deadline. To download the forms, visit our Necessary Forms page.
Who can attend the event?
Participants in the festival will receive special packets with tickets for their friends and family. For more information on festival packets, please contact us.
What are the Prizes?
Prizes for the festival will be listed in the festival packets distributed to participants.
